Why should you raise Romneys?

Romneys are a great breed for any skill or age level of shepherd. There are a number of reasons Romneys may be best suited for you, but like most things it depends on your local market conditions and goals for your flock. Below are some attributes which make Romneys an ideal breed for many.

  • Calm temperament

  • Lustrous long-wool

  • High-yielding wool

  • Moderate mature body size

  • Less susceptible to foot-rot

  • Good mothering ability

Another benefit of Romneys is their dual-purpose nature allowing both meat and wool products to be sold to diversify your flock revenue.
